Brazilian Leopard 1A1

Photographs by Cesar Vieceli

In 1997, Brazil ordered 87 second-hand Leopard 1BEs from Belgium. A second batch of 41 was ordered soon after. In Brazilian service they are designated Leopard 1A1. These machines have now largely been replaced by ex-German 1A5s, though some 1A1s remain in service.

This particular 1A1 is on display at the "Museu do Comando Militar do Sul" or Museum of the South Military Command at Porto Alegre in southern Brasil.
